Smart Study Nest
A study room booking platform that helps users find and reserve rooms, preventing booking conflicts with date/time checks.
◆Project Summary
Problem Statement: Students face overlapping room bookings and inefficient scheduling in library or shared study spaces.
My Key Contribution: Created the Express REST API endpoints, formulated backend conflict-detection database queries, and built the clean front-end reservation calendars.

- Room discovery catalog with filters and full capacity profiles
- Interactive slot selection calendar with instant schedule conflict prevention
- Owner listing interface for uploading, updating, and removing study spaces
- User booking dashboard showing active bookings, stats, and cancellation options
- Better Auth session management and token validation
Challenges Faced
Preventing double bookings for study rooms during overlapping times required careful atomic database queries. Resolved by designing database checks on the backend that validate overlapping intervals (start_time < booking.end_time AND end_time > booking.start_time) before saving reservations.
Future Improvements & Plans
I would like to support recurring booking rules (e.g. reserving a room every Monday) and allow space owners to define dynamic pricing rules.
